Firefox on Symbian Phones Early 2009

Mozilla fans will be pleased at this news. From early next year, a mobile Firefox browser will be available on Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson phones on a Symbian OS.

Firefox’s venture into the small screen should take place in April next year. It has already been available on Linux Maemo and Windows Mobile devices, but only in Firefox’s very early stages.

This new mobile browser will be called Fennec, which is a small desert fox, and is very fitting for a reduced-scale version of Firefox.If April sounds as far away as Easter to you, word has it that a limited version may be released in February 2009.

Fennec should shake up the mobile browser world a bit as it has designed to be competitive with other browsers on the market. It will feature new innovative tab management, full-screen browsing and a revamped intelligent address bar.
